May Arts/ Stampendous Blog Hop!

Welcome to the May Arts/ Stampendous blog hop! If you are just stopping by today, be sure to check out the ENTIRE hop lineup on the May Arts blog

For my project today, I decided to alter this cute little chalkboard for my craft room. My daughter had this chalk board and it was cracked on the wood, so I wanted to doctor it up. You can find these chalkboards at your local craft store and they are fairly inexpensive.

To make this, you will need some of the Essentials from Stampendous. I used the Stack Arts Elements 5 kit. This one matches my craft room perfectly!

First, take a piece of cardstock and cover the chalkboard leaving the outside wood edges to decorate. Spray the edges with some Spray Adhesive. BEWARE.... THIS IS MESSY!

Sprinkle some of the mica fragments onto the outside edges where the spray adhesive has been applied. Set aside and let dry.

Next, it's time to embellish!

I took some pieces from the Stampendous Kraftboard Stack Art Royal Heart Kit and added some glitter.

Next, I tied some pretty bows with my bow-it-all.

Add the bows to the chalkboard along with a piece of ribbon to use for hanging, and Viola! How quick and easy is that?! This makes an adorable memo board to hang anywhere!

Multi-colored Background Enhancements with Imagine Crafts & Stampendous

For my project today, I wanted to work with Authentique's "Remembrance" collection. I've had this one laying around and I have made a few projects with it so far, but I wanted to do a page for someone who was very special in my life.

My uncle passed away almost 6 years ago and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him. It was sudden and unexpected, they say time will heal and it does. As a crafter, the best I can do is use my talent & ability to preserve the memory of those loved ones that we have lost.

For my layout, I wanted to add some extra wow factor to the background. I used the Calligraphy Sampler cling stamp from Stampendous and Sweet Plum & Gray Flannel Memento dew drops.

Layer the ink onto the stamp by alternating colors. You will want to pick colors that will blend well. Next, take an ink blusher and dab a little of the ink off to give a nice soft look.

Stamp onto your background page.

It's ok if you don't stamp the entire image, you can cover it up with photo mats & embellishments, you want the look to blend with your page as much as possible so it looks natural.

You can also stamp the photo mat to give the look of patterned paper by using a slightly darker shade of ink than your paper.

I stamped in a diagonal because I just wanted a little to show.

Add your photos and embellishments to your page.

You can see the stamped image behind the photo, and like I stated above, it blends with the background paper like it was already there.

 Thanks for stopping by today!

May Arts Stampendous/Coredinations Blog Hop

It's time for a whole week of super inspiration with May Arts RibbonCore'dinations and Stampendous.  The design teams have partnered to bring you not only amazing projects but fantastic giveaways as well.

Each day this week, 2-3 of the designers from each team will be bringing you projects and a chance to win some awesome prizes.  All you have to do is comment to win!

For my project today, I REALLY wanted to use some of the bookmarks from Core'dinations and of course a variety of glitter from Stampendous!

So here's what I came up with!

I added some May Arts crochet lace to the top along with some flowers from May Arts. I dipped the flowers in some glue and then added some of the Crystal Snow glitter from Stampendous.

On the bottom of the tag, I added some Stampendous Pearlized Mica Fragments to look like scales or waves to go with the nautical theme. This was my first time using the Mica Fragments, they are beautiful, but very messy! I tried to heat emboss to get them to stick and blew them all over my craft room. Once I figured out how to use them, they gave my little tag a beautiful effect. on top of these I added some Vintage Blue Embossing Tinsel.

Before you hop on to the next blog, check out this amazing prize that you could win!
