Team Authentique!

About a year ago, I was shopping & cropping at my local Archiver's store with a bunch of friends. Little did I know that my spending behavior that day would later change my life!

As I was shopping, I spotted the most BEAUTIFUL paper! It was by a new company that I had never heard of called Authentique. I asked my friend if she had ever seen or used their products, and of coarse she had, so she told me a little story about them, etc. I had to grab up some of their paper, so I decided to start with a little 6x6 pad and some of the noteables, tabloids, icons, and excerpts from the  Blissful Collection. I'm not a vintage kind of gal, but something about this paper really inspired me to change my views on vintage.

I had tried out for a few design teams at that point and had been rejected, so I was really unsure about trying out when I saw the Authentique DT call. At the last minute, I decided to send over my application and crafty resume, which at that point, wasn't much. A few days later I got the most awesome e-mail! I had been accepted to the team! I will never forget the day that the UPS driver delivered my very first package of Authentique goodies. I sat and started in awe at all of the beautiful papers. I literally did not want to cut them up, but I knew at some point, I would have to.

In April we transitioned over to a smaller design team and I started helping out as Coordinator. It was the least I could do for a company that I love and feel so much passion for the product and the people who work there. I've been doing a lot of cheer-leading for the Authentique DT over the past year, the girls on the team are absolutely fabulous. I really couldn't ask to be surrounded by a better group of people! Not to mention the folks on Team Authentique out in Utah, Samantha, Bret, Melodee, David, etc. All just wonderful people to work with!

A few weeks ago Samantha called and asked me if I would like to continue helping out with the Design Team and take on responsibilities of their Social Media and be an "official" member of team Authentique. Well, that was a no-brainier! To be offered an opportunity to "work" from my home doing what I love is like a dream come true for me. Not to mention, I still get to play with lots of pretty paper!

Long story short, I am now "officially" a part of Team Authentique. You can see the full announcement HERE on the Authentique blog. You will want to check it out, we also added 3 new super talented ladies to the team!

A Very "Carefree" Canvas

It's been a while since I've actually "blogged" an actual project, so I thought today would be a good day to start again! With that said... did you miss me? hehehe

This week, Authentique Paper is teaming up with Core'dinations cardstock! What a fun week! I'm so happy to start the week with a fun project! This project was a little out of my element. I was asked a few weeks ago to do a tutorial on rolled paper roses, so as I was sitting here over the weekend, I was trying to think of a unique way to incorporate those into my project for the week. I had my "Carefree" papers sitting here and I just knew I wanted to use them. The pantone "Tangerine Tango" color scheme in this collection is one of the most beautiful that I've ever seen! It's simply not Orange, it's so much more than just that!

Like I said, this project was a little outside of my element, but once I got started, everything started to flow. I grabbed a few paints, some Glimmer Mists, sponges, mod podge, and started ripping paper (eek! I know... big fear that I conquered here!)

I just loved this quote, I felt it was worthy of being a focal point for this project. That's where the flowers came into play. They too are worthy of being a focal point! I used some beautiful Maya Road and May Arts trim flowers, but first I misted them with Marmalade & Apricot Glimmer Mists to match my scheme. Of coarse, I also added in my handmade spiral roses, which leads me to my tutorial...

First, you will need a sheet of 3x3" cardstock or patterned paper.

Next, just draw a little spiral, it doesn't have to be perfect.

Now you need to carefully cut along the line that you drew until you get to the end.

Flip your paper over so your line doesn't show (oops, I didn't do that on this one, but make sure you do!) and start rolling from the outside until you work your way in.

Once your flower is wound tight, just let it go so it will loosen up and take form.

Take a little bit of hot glue and put it on the very bottom layer, then push the rest of your flower onto the glue and hold it for a few seconds.

You can fold some of the edges down or just leave it how it is, but that's how you make a simple little rolled rose! Of coarse, I misted mine with Glimmer Mist to add a little shimmer, but that's completely optional!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Make sure you check out the Authentique Paper blog all week long for tons of inspiration from our fabulous design team!

Sweet Stamp Shop- May Release Day 1!

Welcome to Day 1 of Sweet Stamp Shop's May release! If you came from the Sweet Stamp Shop blog, you're on the right track!

Today we have a really fun set to share called "School's Out." This set is perfect if you have kids in school! It's a must have for making gifts for teachers, bus drivers, principals, teachers aides, etc!

My project for today is based on a pin that I saw on pinterest. I can't take full credit for the idea, but I love how it turned out! Have you seen those little plastic re-usable cups that are being sold everywhere? I am addicted to them, perfect for on the go! Well, I grabbed one at Wal-Mart and decided to use it for my project today.

Adding a little pennant to the straw was the perfect touch for this awesome gift! I also added some little individual drink mixes in the cup.

I made a little matching note card to go along with the gift set. Isn't that school bus just the cutest thing?

Thanks for stopping by today! Hop right along and see what Laurel has to share today!
