Delightful Little Baby Mini Album

Today is my day on the Authentique Paper blog. Monday's are usually "tutorial" days over there, so make sure you stop by and see what I've whipped up for today!

A friend of mine asked me to make her a mini album for a shower gift... so this is what I came up with!

I don't want to give it all away here on my blog, so stop by the Authentique blog today to see more!

Christmas... in July?

Yep, you read that right! Since it's CHA week, most companies are coming out with their Christmas collections right now! It just seems too early for me, but I thought I would run with the idea!

My husband tells me every year to get started on making my Christmas cards in the Summer so I don't have to cram that into my schedule a week before Christmas. You would think it would be just that simple considering there is an abundance of new Christmas paper out, right? Yeah.. not so simple for me!

So this year, since I was crafting projects for a few booths at CHA, I decided to at least get a head start on a box to hold my Christmas Cards! I'm sure that has to count for something!

I used the new Handmade Holiday paper collection from Simple Stories, and of coarse, some very festive Timeless Twine in Olive Green, Cherry Red, and Kraft Brown. I also added some lovely ribbon from the Really Reasonable Ribbon store.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope I was able to inspire you to get a little head start on your Christmas projects... it is only 5 months away you know! ;-)

Make sure you CLICK HERE to become a member of the awesome RRR Ribbon club!

Now on to my project...

We were to make a Summer-ish project... so I decided to go with a camping theme. I made this little altered mini clipboard for the Simple Stories CHA booth with their new Take A Hike paper collection. The pretty yellows in the ribbon club assortment went really well with this project!

I loved the little wooden bird. I had to use some pretty Glimmer Mist on it. Of coarse, I used my Stay-put craft mat from Scor-Pal while I was misting!

Have you seen these yet? They are fabulous! The best part is you can buy one HERE from the Really Reasonable Ribbon store along with your fabulous ribbon order! I just love this craft mat, much better quality than the other leading craft mats, and it wipes clean with a paper towel. Wonderful if you like to paint and mist a lot!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Now hop along and see what Kimberly has in store for you today!

New Summer Kicks!

I'm so excited to share this project today! I literally just finished making my daughter some sweet little flip flops... or as she calls them... "floppies."

I picked up these little pink flip flops for less than $1 at Wal-Mart and have had them sitting here for a while. I was trying to clear my desk of CHA projects so I could focus on these. I love how they turned out! So much that I think I am going to make a pair for myself as well!

There's no need to spend $$$ on designer flip flops for the summer when you can make your own! If you're like me, you wear them until they fall apart, so why spend a ton of money on them to begin with, right?

So do you want to know how I made them? It's REALLY simple!

First you will need some plain flip flops and lots of ribbon. Probably about 4 or 5 times the size of the strap length is how much ribbon you will need.

Cut ribbon in two separate pieces and glue small loops on the ends.

Thread one loop through the other.

Take ribbon on the left side and pull it through the loop and go back and forth pulling tight in between loops.

You will start to see a braid form. I measured it against my flip flop strap every so often just to make sure I wasn't going longer than I should.

Once you get to the end, snip the loop.

And then tie a knot in the end.You can snip the ends down so they don't show also.

Now start to adhere your braid to your flip flop strap. I used hot glue, but it does not hold well. I had to reinforce with a little stitching.

There you have your braided ribbon flip flops! They are very cute like this, but I wanted to add something a little extra.

I love these ribbon flowers. They are very pretty and great embellishments! I especially love the white because you can easily dye them to match anything!

I cut the sheer part from around the flowers then sprayed them with various mists to get the color that I wanted.

Once the flowers are dry, I added a couple of loops to the back to give a little added look.

I doubled up the flowers for dimension and sewed little buttons on for centers. I used hot glue to adhere them to the flip flops, but I also stitched them to the ribbon as well just to reinforce the bond (my daughter is rough on her floppies!)

There you have it! New flip flops for summer for less than a couple of dollars!

Let Freedom Ring!

Happy Independence Day!

I'm sure everyone has a fun filled day planned for today, right? Here in southern Ohio it's been HOT HOT HOT! We are planning to cook out and maybe see some fireworks tonight. All in all, today is a great day for some family time!

I wanted to share a quick little patriotic project that I made for today.

I decided that I wanted to make something dimensional. I found this little 3d star cut file in the Silhouette Store and just had to give it a try! These little stars (around here they call them barn stars because people hang larger metal versions on their barns and homes) are so popular right now!

I added some of my favorite patriotic paper from Authentique's Glory collection and then stamped a couple of images from Sweet Stamp Shop's adorable "God Bless America" stamp set. Then I finished it off with a little ribbon from May Arts and some of the new Firecracker twine from Timeless Twine. This twine can be used for sooo much more than just 4th of July, so make sure you stop by the Timeless Twine shop and grab you a spool! It's a really pretty color combo and a must have in my book!

Dear Lizzy...

Ok, a little confession.. I have owned the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan paper collection by American Crafts for quite some time now, and I am just getting it out to play with... I do this quite a bit, but I am guilty of having a fear of cutting up pretty paper!

So today my friends, I not only did one, but TWO projects with the Dear Lizzy line!

For my first project, I made a layout. I have had these photos for way too long and they needed to be put to a good use!

This is my sweet baby Reagan when she was just 2 months old... now she is 4, so yes, it was time to put them on a page!

Here's a little close up... I used pop dots under all of the photos for some added dimension.

Next up, I used some of my scraps and made a sweet little card!

I hand cut all of the flower petals and inked them up. I wanted some dimension... because I LOVE dimension, so I folded them in half and glues them from the spine.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a great weekend!

Time To Get Fresh!

I just LOVE the Fresh Collection by Authentique Paper. As you all know, there is no place I would rather be than at the beach. So this collection is right up my alley!

This week, on the Authentique Paper Blog, we are teaming up with Want2Scrap. Now if you have never used Want2Scrap products, you should go out and buy some right now! They are VERY affordable and a great way to jazz up your projects!

Today, I wanted to alter something, so I got in my drawer of alterables and found this KaiserCraft clock that I had been holding on to. I think I found it on clearance somewhere for about $5.

The neat thing about this clock is that it IS fully functional! It just takes one AA battery! It came with all of the pieces that a normal clock would have. I really love the little windows that were cut out, so I decided to add a pretty piece of coordinating paper on the bottom layer.

This clock will look perfect hanging in my living room. I love the little Details Stickers from Authentique. You get such a variety & can use them on several projects! I know so far I have made A LOT of projects with "Fresh" this month!

I added some Want2Scrap pearls and nestaboard to the clock as well. Make sure you stop by the Authentique Blog today to see my full review! Also, there is a giveaway, so don't forget to comment while you're there!

Before I forget, I also had a giveaway last week on THIS POST... the winner is...

Hello Friend

We are having a bit of a heat wave here in the midwest... when I was given the "Hello Spring" collection by Little Yellow Bicycle last month for my Design Team project for Cord Camera Scrapbook Studio, I was a bit iffy to work with it considering it felt like Summer! I know yesterday was the first official day of summer, but we have been up and down in temps since early this year.... it's hard to tell what season it is!

Yes I was not a fan of this line when I started. I am not a fan of scrapping Spring projects period. However, I was a HUGE fan of the beautiful colors in this collection! I was also given a Little Yellow Bicycle 6x6 canvas album to play with, so I put a little thought into it and went a little beyond Spring.

The colors in this collection were PERFECT for a friendship album! I was able to pull out some acrylic paint and splatter it on the edges of the canvas album. I also added a little sparkle with some Mod Podge sparkle (love that stuff!!)

Do you have a Cord Camera store nearby? Now through Saturday, June 30th, you can save 30% on Little Yellow Bicycle's Hello Spring Collection! Just mention this blog post to a store associate at checkout or use promo code SPRING30 online! Also, you can use code SHIP4LESS to save 40% on your shipping costs!

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you stop by the Cord Camera Scrapbook Studio blog and check out the other projects using the "Hello Spring" line!

A Day At The Lake

It's a bright & sunshiny day here in southern Ohio, so I thought I would share a bright & colorful mini album that I made this week!

I got this beautiful Amy Tangerine Sketchbook paper & embellishments from It's Always Fabulous on Etsy. Sue ALWAYS has the brand new hot paper lines in stock!

Here's a close up... you can see that I used some pretty stamps... they are from the Against The Grain stamp set by Sweet Stamp Shop.

Of coarse, when I started this album, I didn't like it. So I kept adding more and more to it and it finally came together. Now I love it!

I wanted to fill this album with fun photos, so as I was digging through my photo boxes, I found some pics from a few years ago that hadn't been scrapped yet. When my husband and I first started dating in 2010, we took a little day trip to the lake & had a picnic with my daughter. Of coarse, I snapped a few pics!

I used the Basically Bare Wonky Windows album. I love these albums, they are a great quality and always fun to fill with pics & doodle on! Especially the acrylic pages! Zig Painty FX Pens are great for that!

Here's another close up... I also used the Aarow Embellies by Basically Bare. I love the black chipboard, they are great for doodling with a white gel pen!

Annnnd.... another close up! I love this pic of me & my little Reagan. I wish I could have kept her this young forever! They grow so fast, but at least we have photos for the memories!

Make sure you stop by the Sweet Stamp Shop Blog today! We are teaming up with Want2Scrap (which I incorporated some of their bling throughout the album). We have fun giveaways!

You can also win the "Against The Grain" stamp set that I used in my project! What are you waiting for?

ALSO... I have a little giveaway to do here on my blog today! Sue from It's Always Fabulous is giving away 2 - 12x12 sheets of each paper in the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook Collection! All you have to do is comment here to win! Trust me, you want this paper! It's soooo pretty!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Konnichiwa!

Which means Hello! in Japanese! I'm sure you all have seen this fabulous new line by Basic Grey, right? One of my DT assignments for Cord Camera Scrapbook Studio this past month was to create a few projects with this beautiful paper. I was over the moon when I received it! I've always been a huge fan of Basic Grey, but the colors and elements in this line are just so beautiful!

This is one of my favorite photos of my daughter and I. I have been holding on to it for a few years waiting for the perfect paper to come along so I could make a layout with it. I've really gotten into using one photos on a one page layout and focusing on it, especially when it's a pretty photo that makes a great focal point. I LOVE that Cord Camera offers 6x8 prints. These are perfect for one page layouts!

I got out my Silhouette Cameo and made a few flowers to match. I wanted to bring out some of those other papers and this was the perfect way to do so.

I also used my Silhouette for this sweet title ♥

Here's a view looking down on the layout, I love the extra added dimension of the flowers.

I also made a sweet little card with some of the scraps that I had left over.

Make sure you stop by the Cord Camera Scrapbook Studio blog to see other projects made with this collection and other new collections from Basic Grey!
