Crayon Art/Library Pocket Mini Album

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to try something different and out of my element. On the Authentique Paper blog, we are starting a new "Pin-spired Monday" segment. So for today's project, I turned to pinterest for ideas.

I have been wanting to try the melted crayon art pin that I've been seeing a lot of. So instead of a canvas, I decided to try it on one of my favorite things to make... a mini album!

I made the mini album base as well. I had seen a pin on making your own mini album out of library pockets. This was perfect for me since my mother-in-law recently gave me a whole box of blank library pockets!

Here's a little look at the inside. I plan on adding photos.

My daughter just started pre-school last week, so that's what this album will be used for.

Here's a pic from her first day...

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure you stop by and check out my full post on the Authentique Paper blog! I have listed a tutorial there for you to make your very own mini album just like this one!

Paris Girl Door Hanger

This week Basically Bare and May Arts has teamed up to bring you lots of fun inspiration using their products! I'm up today on the Basically Bare blog with a fun project.

I decided to try something new. A door hanger. I bought a pack of these last week at Wal-Mart (about $4 for 6) because I thought they would come in handy sooner or later! I had an idea so I ran with it, I thought I could make a door hanger for my craft room.

I have had the new Carta Bella "Paris Girl" paper laying here for about a month and wanted to do something "chic"with it.

Immediately when I decided what I was making, I knew I would have to use the Basically Bare dress form, and of coarse the box pleat ribbon and small rosette ribbon from May Arts!

I also added some of the small pennants, another one of my favorite items from Basically Bare.

Thanks for stopping by today!

A "Peaceful" TP Roll Album

Have you stopped by the Authentique Paper blog today? If not, you're in for a treat! Today, a very new paper collection was announced. It's a winter themed collection called "Peaceful." Not your typical winter paper line.... check out this altered toilet paper roll mini album that I made with this beautiful line!

I absolutely LOVE the subtle hints of green in this paper. It reminds me of winter and evergreen trees. Plus, it's one of my favorite colors.

I tried to pull out the greens by adding leaves and some green twill from May Arts.

Thanks for stopping by today! Now head over to the Authentique Blog and leave a comment for your chance to win some "Peaceful" before you can buy it!

August Inspiration Color Challenge: Authentique Paper

Welcome to another fun Color Challenge from Authentique Paper! I just love doing color challenges because they give me a reason to really think "outside of the box."

I'm an altered arts kind of gal, so sketches aren't always my thing unless I am forcing myself to do a layout or a card.

For my color challenge project, I wanted to re-purpose something. My husband always finds "junk" for me. He is a carpenter and along with re-modeling houses comes people who want to throw out their "old" items. So he will usually take them off their hands for them. A few months ago he brought me several old photo frames. Among those frames was an old mirror. I loved the shape of it, so I thought I would use it for something...

Here is the old mirror now...
I bought a can of the chalkboard spray paint and had a little fun with it!

I just love Authentique Paper's "Curiosity" collection. The colors are beautiful. So different for a school line.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you head on over to the Authentique Paper blog and play along with our color challenge this month! We love to see what you create!

I Love Learning!

Have you stopped by the Authentique Paper blog today? If so, you know we are hopping with Basically Bare! I wanted to post my project here, but if you haven't checked out the Authentique Blog yet, make sure you head over there next! Loads of inspiration going on from our fabulous design team!

Before I started my project, I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to make, but I knew that I wanted to use Authentique's new Curiosity collection and some Basically Bare small banner shapes!

I went with a toilet paper roll mini album...

Yes, those are really toilet paper rolls! Every time I make these people always ask where the tp rolls are! They are just disguised by the acrylic paint ;-)

I love how this mini album turned out! I think it would be great to store all of those little back to school snapshots! I used Nautical twine from Trendy Twine to tie the little bows on the banner, it matched perfectly!

I especially love making these because the pull out tags are always fun!

Thanks for stopping by today! Now head on over to the Authentique blog and check out the projects! Make sure you leave comments on today's post as well as yesterday's! We have a fun prize pack to give out to one lucky winner!

A "Lively" Mini-Album, A Class, & A Color Challenge!

Hello all! I think I'm a little late on posting my project for Authentique's JULY Color challenge! I was away at CHA when the challenge was posted, so I didn't get a chance to update it here on my personal blog. Better late than never, right?

Isn't the color scheme awesome? I just LOVE the "Lively" Collection from Authentique. It's probably one of my favorite paper lines to this date. You have until TOMORROW NIGHT to link up your color challenge projects on the Authentique blog! To play along, please CLICK HERE!

Earlier this year, after attending several CKC Events (CKC=Creating Keepsake Convention), I decided that I wanted to teach at one this year. So I made that my goal. Create more, and try to teach more.

With that said, I will be teaching this fabulous mini album class at CKC Cincinnati next month! I'm so excited! I love how this album turned out and there is room inside for so many photos& embellishments, a perfect way to store your memories!

The cool thing about this mini album, you can customize it to your own personal photos. It doesn't have to be about love (which I chose that for my theme because I wanted a sweet little 1st year album for my husband and I).

Here's a little peek at the album and some inside shots. I can't show off the WHOLE album, I'm saving that for my class ;-)

This class will be jam-packed full of fun stuff! You get a kit that is literally loaded with beautiful papers, stickers, ribbons, bling, etc AND If you attend the class, I will teach you how to make your OWN embellishments! If you follow my blog, you know that i love to make embellishments, much cheaper, and so easy to customize them to your projects.

If you aren't able to attend the class and still want a kit, please email me at createserendipity@gmail.com as I do have a few extras. They are $40 each (plus shipping) and also come with an instruction sheet.

CKC Cincinnati is September 28 & 29, I will be teaching this class both days at 4pm

To sign up, please visit the website HERE, click the class grid and scroll down (you will see the album photos) the class name is "Fabulous Bright & Cheery Mini Album Workshop" I hope to see you all there!

Sweet Stamp Shop August Release & One Year Anniversary Celebration: Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of Sweet Stamp Shop's August release & One Year Anniversary celebration! If you came from the Sweet Stamp Shop blog, you're on the right track!

Today's stamp set is called "Cherry Blossoms." Now if you are a fan of the Paper Made Bakery kit club, than this stamp set probably looks familiar to you! It was in one of their monthly kits over the summer and now will be available for purchase in the SSS store.

While I was in Wal-Mart one day buying school supplies for my daughter (she starts pre-school in a few weeks... eek!) I ran across this REALLY cute clipboard in the clearance aisle for $1.50! When I put it in my cart, I had no idea what I would make with it, but I thought the least I could do is use it while helping my daughter with her writing skills.

When I got home I thought BINGO! I won't alter it like a normal clipboard... I will break out my Opaque White Staz-On ink and STAMP on this!!! That way there aren't really any dimensional objects for papers to get stuck on.

By the way... I couldn't get a great photo, so yes, there is a glare and you can see my reflection... the clipboard is translucent... and very shiny!!!

I love Cherry Blossoms. I always admire the photos in the spring of them in Washington DC. So so pretty! I'm so glad Nicole made this stamp set! Since I can't always go see the Cherry Blossoms up close and in person... I can at least stamp them all over the place! ;-)

Now hop right along today and see what the fabulous Stephanie has in store for you!

If you get lost along the way, here's the hop order for today!

Welcome to Day 3 of Sweet Stamp Shop's August release & One Year Anniversary celebration! If you came from the Sweet Stamp Shop blog, you're on the right track!

Today we have some super cute stamps to showcase! It's never too early to start playing with "Halloween Characters"! Yep, those are what we have to show today! You are going to LOVE them!

I wanted to showcase all of the characters because they are just so sweet! So I decided to make a little mini album... with toilet paper rolls!

I love adding tags to the open slots in the toilet paper roll bases, they just give the album a little something extra & fun... plus, I LOVE pretty ribbons!

Yes, that was made from toilet paper rolls. Here's proof for those who don't believe me!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Next up is Kelly... I think you are going to LOVE what she has made for today! What are you waiting for? Hop right along!

Sweet Stamp Shop August Release & One Year Anniversary Celebration: Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of Sweet Stamp Shop's August release & One Year Anniversary celebration! If you came from the Sweet Stamp Shop blog, you're on the right track!

Today we have an ADORABLE stamp set to show you... it's probably my favorite this release... it's called "Under the Sea" and I think you all are going to love this one!

I decided for my project, I wanted to make a tag! I never do tags, so this was a perfect excuse to get out my distress stains and get inky!

I love how my tag turned out... so I decided to break out the Copics and color my images....

Ta-da! My little mermaid tag! I'm not sure what I will do with a tag... but I think I will hang it somewhere to display it... because it turned out really pretty!

I am a huge fan of ribbon... so I added lots of fun ribbons to the top of my tag to match. I even inked up my lime green ribbon a little.

Before I go today... I wanted to tell you a little story behind this stamps set... My 4 year old Reagan LOVES mermaids... you know Reagan, right? If not, here she is!

Anyways... she loves Mermaids. The Little Mermaid, Barbie & the Mermaid Tale, etc, those are her favorite movies and we watch them over and over. Reagan has started to take an interest in art, so I let her color with me when I am stamping. I asked Nicole if she could do a fun Mermaid/Beach stamp set sometime and she surprised me with this one and said she had made it with my little Reagan in mind! Yep, Nicol IS the sweetest! We ♥ her!

Here is Reagan coloring some of her images from the "Under the Sea" stamp set. She loves it!

Now hop right along today and see what super sweet Jamie has in store for you!

Sweet Stamp Shop August Release & One Year Anniversary Celebration: Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of Sweet Stamp Shop's August release & One Year Anniversary celebration! If you came from the Sweet Stamp Shop blog, you're on the right track!

Today we have an ADORABLE stamp set to show you... it's called "Lil' Sweet Peps" and I think you all are going to love this one!

When I got this stamp set, I knew I had to make something cute with one of my photos of my husband and I. Our 2 year anniversary is coming up next month, so I thought I would make a cute little picture frame.

I just love the little ribbons and twine that I found to match (that's super cute Timeless Twine by the way!)

My husband asks if I ever get tired of showcasing our wedding photos (I have them plastered all over our house). Obviously, the answer is no. And this one in particular is my absolute favorite.

And the cute little people kinda resemble my husband and I... when he had hair of coarse ;-)

Now hop right along, we have lots of great prizes this week and LOADS of inspiration from our design team! Stephanie is up next, and she always has something extra sweet to share!

In case you get lost along the way... here is today's hop order...

CHA Summer 2012 Re-Cap!

Ok, so maybe I'm the last person on the planet to re-cap my trip to Chicago last month for Summer CHA 2012. Better late than never, right?

My trip to CHA started out a little rocky... I missed my 6:40am flight to Chicago... I got to the gate as the plane was taking off. Totally my fault. I will blame it on my husband but shh... it wasn't his fault. I thought I had plenty of time to stop and use the ladies room to freshen up then grab some Starbucks! Note to self: don't ever schedule a flight before 8am. Anytime before that, I will not be functioning properly. Luckily, I was able to catch the next flight.

When I landed in Chicago, my FABULOUS friend Sue (from itsalwaysfabulous) picked me up. We had a little morning shopping trip to Target, then went to get pampered.

Yep, I got my nails did for the occasion (this is a rare thing people)... and a pedicure to match!

On Monday morning we each had a few classes, and since I had an exhibitor pass, I was able to get on the floor to help with set up... except my people were not early risers like me!
It was like a ghost town up in here!

Once everyone arrived, we were able to get things all set up and pretty in the Authentique booth. Ready for the show to begin!

I decided to walk the floor and meet people ... and hand out my brand spankin' new business cards that make me look all professional!

and I also decided along the way to make some cool stuff...

Silhouette had a really cool make & take to make this little messenger bag using their iron on transfer sheets. I must get some of this stuff! Really cool!

There was a huge display of pretty dresses. Being a child of the 80's, this one was my fave! I could totally see Madonna wearing this 25 years ago!

I saw a crowd so I thought I'd see what important person was having a demo... it was Dyan Reaveley showing off her Dylusions mists for Ranger. Very cool stuff!

I love her style!

I really didn't take a ton of pictures. I think I got so caught up in everything (since this was my first show) that I forgot to grab my camera and snap some shots!

But... I did meet some very cool people! And I got pics with them!!!
I ♥ this girl... if you don't recognize her pretty face, it's Samantha Wheatley from Authentique Paper! AKA My boss!

Then I happened to run into my Sweet Stamp Shop Design Team Sister Laurel Beard!

Of coarse I met Thienly from Mod Paperie! She's awesome I am glad we finally got to meet!

Last but not least.... You all have your photos with Tim Holtz... well... I skipped that photo op... instead... I have mine with...
John from Imagine Crafts! :-) I learned a lot at CHA from watching John's demos! I'm excited to use my inks now that I know HOW to use them!

That's it from me today! Have a great weekend!
